Animals obtained from vendors on the approved list,
particularly rodents, may be exempt from quarantine upon
arrival. If
the animals/colony come for approved vendor’s research
colonies (not production colonies), then they have to go
through quarantine/re-derivation before their introduction
in to the CCM animal facility.
No rodent health surveillance monitoring programs using
sentinels are used in quarantine room(s). In CCM, the
quarantine facilities are primarily used as a staging/housing
area for rodents arrived from non-approved vendors or
research institutions for the purpose of re-derivation using
embryo transfer.
